When teachers experience entrepreneurial learning firsthand, they become confident guides for their students’ own journeys. This professional development transforms educators into practitioners of design thinking and entrepreneurial practice.
The brief
Work alongside the Sydney School for Entrepreneurship (SSE) team to create accredited professional development for NSW teachers that builds capacity to deliver entrepreneurial learning. The program needed accreditation from the New South Wales Education Standards Authority (NESA) and align with Stage 3 Science and Technology Syllabus K-6 and Technology Mandatory Years 7-8 Syllabus. The goal: equip teachers to guide students through entrepreneurial journeys from planning to pitch using project-based learning.
Outcomes achieved:
- NESA-accredited professional development program created and approved
- Three-hour program designed for practical implementation and immediate classroom application
- Teachers experience design thinking practice firsthand – the same process their students will follow
- Program aligned with NSW curriculum requirements across primary and early secondary
- Educators explore the complete entrepreneurial journey: planning, development, and pitch
- Project-based learning strategies embedded throughout to promote student engagement
- Teachers equipped to implement and evaluate design thinking outcomes in their own classrooms
- Program delivered as part of the Game Changers Challenge, an annual NSW Department of Education initiative
What we learned
When teaching teams experience what their students will experience, aligned with curriculum requirements, educators build genuine confidence to successfully guide young people through the same process.
