Snowy Valleys Regional University Study Hub

A cluster of rural towns needed tertiary education access. The challenge wasn’t just making the case – it was ensuring community voice shaped the solution.

The brief

Work alongside the Snowy Valleys Council-led community working group to prepare the case for a Regional University Study Hub (Country University Centre). The goal: improve access to tertiary education for towns and villages including Tumut, Tumbarumba, Khancoban, Jingellic, Rosewood, Batlow, Talbingo, Tooma, and Adelong.

Outcomes achieved

  • Produced a robust, evidence-based case demonstrating need for a Regional University Study Hub
  • Amplified community voice, ensuring local priorities and Indigenous perspectives were central to the submission
  • Strengthened confidence in local capacity to support tertiary access and lifelong learning
  • Grant awarded: The submission secured funding, validating the research and collaboration behind the application

What we learned

Community voice isn’t just consultation, it’s the foundation. When local priorities and Indigenous perspectives drive the case, funding bodies respond to authenticity and genuine need, not just polished submissions.
